Control principle

The WHM/HBM/UPM FLEX circulation pump is controlled by a digital low voltage pulse width modulated PWM signal whose rotational speed is dependent on the input signal. The HYBRID circulation pump is controlled internally or externally and can be set to internal or external control depending on the needs of the site. The pump prefabricated profile determines the rate of change of the pump speed.

The square wave PWM signal is suitable for the frequency range from 100 to 4,000 Hz. The PWM signal is used to select the speed (speed command) and acts as a feedback signal. The PWM frequency of the feedback signal is fixed at 75 Hz in the circulation pump.

If the circulation pump detects one or more alarms, the bi-color LED 1 changes from green to red. When the alarm is activated, the LED displays the type of alarm in the table below. If multiple alarms are activated simultaneously, the LED only shows the highest priority error. The priority is defined by the sequence of the table. When there is no active alarm, the user interface switches back to the operating mode.

Advantages of pump control

The pressure control in AWMT WHM/UPM/UPML and AUTO is closely combined with flow (proportional pressure control and constant pressure control).
● In contrast to an uncontrolled circulation pump, a constant pressure controlled circulation pump keeps the pressure difference constant.
● Proportional pressure control The circulating pump reduces the differential pressure as the heat demand decreases.
● Change from A1 to A2.
● In a heating system using an uncontrolled circulation pump, this condition increases the system pressure by ΔH1.

The use of uncontrolled pumps in the system often causes the fluid to generate noise in the radiator temperature control valve. This noise can be drastically reduced by proportional pressure control.
If a proportional pressure controlled circulation pump is used in the system, operating in proportional pressure mode will reduce the pressure by ΔH2, which reduces energy consumption.
